Too Lazy Days

Yay boho quilt-y-ness!

It's been two lazy days. While I did indeed finally get the double sided bias tape from Joann's, I have not applied it to the apron. Monday I went out with Alex to get stuff to get the washing machine all set (which yay now I can wash things but boo the dryer doesn't work). Yesterday, Tuesday, we went out to get more stuff from Home Depot and then return the bed set I had gotten from Target when we first moved in (I finally decided on a different one!). I still keep forgetting to get darn swiffer sweeper heads. I was so close to being productive with school stuff at least but then I got distracted by some notifications I received from the department. I can finally apply for fieldwork for next semester so I needed to email someone to figure out what paperwork I have to get together.
So I need to keep this post short so I can kick my butt to do my school work. I have found that keeping this idea in my head keeps me motivated: if I do my schoolwork now I'm free to do fun stuff when the opportunity presents itself later-- and it always presents itself later (especially if I've procrastinated earlier).
I do wish it wasn't raining this morning so I could've made it to the gym early but instead I walked Penny in the rain and found out that wind breakers are most certainly not equivalent to rain jackets-- at least not the one I have).

Bountiful 'N Stuff

As I sit here on my lunch break staring at the remnants of my potato leek soup I realize I haven't written my blog post yet today. I was going to do it this morning but I got a hit on fb in regards to the desk we re trying to sell. Then I had to scramble to finish getting ready for work. Made it on time-- I've been doin good about that these past couples months and I'm happy my managers have noticed my extra efforts. I'll need to make sure to leave even earlier next weekend as we will be at our new place! It's not farther, it's just nestled on the road in a weird way so I may need five more minutes to meet the same clock.
My seedlings that I started at work are looking good-- I'm hoping I don't take too long with the pallet garden project. The 3-4 of the bush beans are ready to be moved but I have nowhere for them yet. Bush beans are delicious and I'm so happy I'll get to grow them on our own back patio.
Something else on my mind is my school work. I have a discussion post I have to write tonight and I have yet to do the reading. The question is simple "define information literacy" so I'm sure I'll be able to gather my ideas along with the readings to give an acceptable post. Maybe work will be slow enough to allow me reading time. I doubt it-- the Friday truck is here and it's my turn to check it in. After that it'll be time to stock the floor.
On a fun note, we get this seasons seeds in finally! A bit late but I think it'll all turn out fine. We do live in Florida after all-- not much fear for frost until January.
I hope everyone's weekend gets off to a good start. I'm sure many of you who are back to school are welcoming the chance to really spend time and catch up with friends. Some of you may need a drink after a rediculously early (in the semester) exam. Whatever it is you need this weekend, I hope you find bounty.
Namaste.

Debt Is Easy; Knowing What Is Worth It Is The Challenge

Poop. I knew I'd forget if I didn't do it in the morning. Oh well here it is.
I can't allow myself to skip out on the USF gym. It'll be easier to push myself there with the gym classes.
What I would like to do every week is 1-2 weight days and the rest are group workout/cardio. Abs are going to happen everyday prior to workout. It turns out abs are a million times easier when you do them before your workout because you are (or should be) always using them when using your body.
I may need to consider doing them prior to my bike ride to the gym afte I move. It's not far away from my current apartment but I'll have a couple more minutes to add to the ride.
I hope this semester starts off well if it both school and my workouts.
I'm starting to feel uneasy about school because what I've chosen is such a different educational path (but still similar). You all know id rather just be in a yoga teacher training program but I'm already in library science... Too deep into it, too deep in debt. That's the sad truth about furthering education. No matter what you will be in debt somehow. My brother is in debt and the Navy have him a full ride to dental school.
It's one of my fears that money will be an obstacle to my dreams... I mean it already is with yoga. Perhaps my fears are horribly misplaced since life is struggle. If everything we easy, what would be the point?

Death To The Pattern

Hopefully all this icky weather calms down so Alex and I can go out on our actual bicycles.

Patterns are very frustrating. Just when I think I understand what is supposed to be done and I'm ready to sew, I realize I've messed up and need to figure out a correct or cut an additional piece out. Can you say learning curb?
In addition, I've realized I need double sided bias tape (because it says so on the package and didn't notice until I stared at it for a million years). I can do this. I want to be able to do this. Luckily I have Colie to help-- she suggested this nifty named youtube channel called Professor Pin Cushion.
On a different note, Fall classes start soon and shortly after we move into our new apartment. I'm super excited for the new apartment and hoping I can get my textbooks and whatnot in time. I don't like playing catch up because in grad school I never quite can. I want this semester to be a good one considering it will be one of my last and I need to keep my grades up.
Sometimes I get so overwhelmed with what I need and want to do that, even after focusing on the needs first I still feel flustered. Somehow I'll make it all happen!

About Five (Minutes) To Share

Last night the AC went caputtie again but it somehow defrosts itself if we melt for two hours or so. It will be so nice to be in the new apartment in September. I do hope the babies make a comfortable transition to the new place, though.
On other notes, I'm almost done with this ugh summer semester and happy to be getting into my real summer break. I look forward to finally finishing the poke'mon board (I'm ashamed at how long it's taken me to do-- even though it hurts my neck after an hour or so). I can also finally start working with the sewing machine-- clutch purse here I come! I look forward to sharing crafty stuff with all of you.
Also, I just want to state that I have gained two pounds from the cruise but that happens, right? I've heard so many people complain about gaining weight on cruises and now I totally understand why (which reminds me I need to finish posting about my cruise! I'll get to that asap after school stuff is done). There's so much food and it's all already paid for so why not try everything-- why not do everything? But I am back in good habits (minus this weird morning of not sleeping well). I look forward to getting back to the gym classes this Monday. I'm so ready to kick my own butt into shape.
I hope everyone's weekend is off to an awesome start!
Namaste.

Stress Will Weigh You Down

Playing catch up with blog posts is tough and bothersome. There's no room to miss a day.
I'll do my best but it's better not to be stressed over it-- I have enough going on.
I need to work on my assignments, prepare for my online presentation, and then I get to spend time with Kaitlin later today.
I hope everyone's weekend is off to a good start. Let any stress you have go-- it'll weigh you down and make it even more difficult to take control.

It's Make Up Time-- and Not the Fun Kind With Kaitlin

I have twelve days of blog posts to make up for. How am I going to catch up? Two posts a day for six days. That'll be interesting. Here's my start on playing make up/catch up.

Not only am I behind in my blog posts but I'm also further behind than I'm comfortable with being in my school work. I'm really tired of online courses because there is so little motivation that even when I get excited about the topic it's hard to keep me there because there's no stimulus of hearing other people actually discuss and present. Some professors will say that doing video chat and such online makes it the same as a physical class but I highly disagree because of the digital crippling of social interaction. Physical class allows for people to meet and talk about topics other than class without seeming creepy by going out of the way to message a colleague (hey I see you have a LOK avatar, I really love that show.) It doesn't sound too weird to me because Alex has really got me to a point of being okay with speaking randomly to people-- I just need the opportunity to do so. Online class you just log on, listen to the professor read the slides to you, read a colleague's question about something the professor just answered. Yeah, it's lame. I miss feeling challenged in the classroom and, as weird as it is to say, mentally punished (whether by myself or the professor through a pop quiz) for not doing the readings.
So I have quite a bit to do this weekend and next week and then I'm free until fall semester at the end of August. Wow summer goes too fast... summer semesters are poo.
One week. I can do this. Silly annual cold is out of the way. I can do this.
Oh, yeah, if you didn't catch my Facebook post, I was sick the past three days. It figures: attend my brother's wedding, go on a family cruise, come back to work, then be sick for days so I can't focus on my school work. Poo.

Satur- Saturday

Why did they do a Fabio shot for Liam Neeson?
So yes, I missed yet another Saturday night. This time it wasn't for fun, I had an assignment due and I actually got it done and submitted on time (go me!). Afterwards I was pretty tired so I laid down and Alex joined me with the laptop. He put on the first episode of Star Wars; I watched the first twenty minutes or so and then passed out. I think I may have seen it in its entirety when I was younger but I don't recall. I'll have to try again some time.
I think Alex and I decided to watch the movies because we are getting into the nerd community, we kind of need to understand the lingo/basics.

Oops I Did It Again

This is becoming a normal thing: for me to miss a day and post two the next day to make up for it. At least I'm doing them.
Yesterday was fairly productive. I cleaned up the apartment a bit and tried to work on my assignment that's due tonight. Summer is going to be pooey as far as classes go-- it's only week two and an assignment is due, I need to watch the recorded lecture I missed last night, and I still have to buy my textbooks for my other class. Hopefully taking summer will actually be beneficial to my degree track. I really need to meet with my advisor to discuss my track and what I can do to make me more employable once I graduate. Working at Worms Way is good but it's not going to help me with jobs after college. I like my pay and the regular schedule but it sucks working weekends every weekend.
I think it'd be good to maybe just volunteer some this summer (probably better once my summer semester ends) and then start looking into summer internships for next summer.
Well my break is almost over and I have to drive back. I hope everyone has a good Friday; ill post my post for today tonight.

Stop Dragging, You Pooey Procrastinator

After a really productive day with school work I really wonder why the heck I procrastinate so much. I really wish one time (not this time; preferably a past occasion) procrastination wouldn't have worked out just so I wouldn't be such a procrastinator now.
People can drag their buts for weeks, maybe even months, doodle around and stare at the computer screen and when they turn around that thing they kept putting off looks like a rainbow. It still works out somehow. All that poop and it ends up being a rainbow.
I stress myself out with a lot of things and end up judging myself five times (serious) harder than the person who is actually grading my work. Just like when I look in the mirror by myself my eyes are drawn directly to my lower abdomen where my main fat store is. When I'm with a group of people, and I look back at a photo of it, I see how pretty I am.
Why do our minds make things so complicated? It really doesn't have to be. It can be so simple. It is so simple. Let's just do crap and enjoy the rainbow right now instead of dragging it on.
We can't have a rainbow every day, but something else spectacular might happen when it's not raining and we're going to want to have the time to do it instead of having that hypothetical unicorn poo being dragged on the carpet.
If I balanced my school work as well as I should-- you know, do one page a night, one assignment a day or two if they're super short, then you can have the night or even a day free. You'll have set times to go to the gym, to cook dinner. Oh the joys of not being a procrastinator.

Oh yeah, I have a blog to work on.

I know I missed my post last week. It was actually a pretty busy week but not as productive with school work or the gym as I would have liked. I found shoes for my brother's wedding, got Alex's car fixed, went to St. Pete for the first time, ate Spinach Pie and the best Falafel I've ever had. Looked at dresses for my brother's rehearsal brunch but no luck finding the one. My best friend Kaitlin and sister Kate did Dance Marathon and raised money for sick children. Alex took down and rebuilt office spaces for the big race in St. Pete. Aaaand work was very busy at Worm's Way. I don't know yet if I passed my Regular Part Time Sales Position test but it would be awesome to be able to receive commission in addition to my pay.

I actually typed up a post on my phone on Friday but I didn't post it. I think it was really romantic with strong reference to mythology. I'll have to post it sometime once I take another gander at it. I also did take my measurements and pictures of myself for my weekly post last week but yet they did not make it to the post that did not get posted.
I've been struggling with getting going these past few weeks. I've been sluggish with my work and missing my drive for the gym. Penny is doing really good though. Her and Rinpoche actually play together. She even lets him near her food bowl (like his face right next to it. When she gets a treat she breaks it up into piece and Rinpoche has after them but when Penny is ready to eat that piece he's after, she just moves him aside so gently with her snout and eats it.

Well I have lots to do and catch up with. I made a detailed list and divided up the wants from the need to dos. Obviously the wants are rewards or things to do when taking a break from school work... come to think of it I did not include this blog post. Oh well, I did it and it's a want more than a need but it could be a need since I didn't post one last week.

One of the wants on my list is to go for a bicycle ride and I realized very recently that Alex and I have stopped doing our rides together. It seems to have stopped around the time we got Penny. Getting a dog really is like having a kid. You feel bad every time you leave them. I think the weather just hasn't been in our favor on nights when we can go out and then we're both busy otherwise or just dead tired. I think even if we're tired we should go for a quick one.

I hope you are all well and you're buckling down on school work better than I am. I wish you the best and luck during these last stressful weeks of the semester.

I Didn't Forget You

I realize it's  been a while since my last post and that's mostly due to trying to get my Avon going and getting everything setup for Tampa. Just when I think I'm done, there's something else that comes up. As for Avon, it's going fairly well. It'll be tough starting all over in Tampa; at least I'll be going out more and seeing more people so that should help pick up my business over there.
I never updated you on my running did I? Well, I did indeed go for a run the next morning.  I drank a glass of water and beat the rain. Unfortunately, I found little to no enjoyment in the activity. My poor wittle ankles and knees are not made for the pounding on cement. Happily, I'll have gym access in two weeks (holy cow, there's only 14 days until Tampa!) so I'll have wonderful cycling, yoga, and other fun classes to go to to get active and involved. Note to self: apply to the USF gym.
I'm so excited that I'm getting anxious and nervous!
Anyway, running is a no-- at least in the streets. I shall be a proper lady of modern day society and run on a tredmill that treats my joints gently. Maybe I'll find some non-paved trails for running-- there is a big park next to The Claw (USF's golf course). USF doesn't have fun names like FSU does... I'll have to find out more or make them up.
I hope I don't have as much trouble meeting people as I did at FSU. I didn't make friends really until Junior year when I joined my sorority DNZ. Then I didn't make any significant connections until Senior year. Yeah... nope. Not going to allow it to take so long-- I'm going to be aggressive with friendships! BE MY FRIEND! Please. :) And then I'll offer to make them some tea and lunch. No one ever took me up on that offer before... so definitely be more aggressive about getting them to spend time with me. Yes.
As for the mostly veganism, it hasn't been going so great because of how tight money has been and the upsetting forgetfulness of my parents to buy more than onions, peppers, and potatoes. Like I've said before, I'll have an easier time when I'm in control of what goes into the fridge and pantry.
All that's left to get Tampa done, now, is pay for utility setup, pay for internet, pick up moving truck, find job, move in, and get settled. Oh, then I have a list for Tampa, too. It included meeting my department head, getting my USF ID (I gotta snatch up that gym access!), and decide on local grocery stores/ market places. The big ones left are the move and finding a job. I'm hoping for a position at the Disney Store in the International Mall but there's also a possibility of working at a sushi restaurant (yum!).
Well, I think I'll let you go for now. My car has been finicky and giving her a bath usually makes her happier.
Have a great weekend!

Namaste.

Adaptation

When you don't have a gym with access to machines and weights, everything changes.
I've learned that, like any other routine, a workout must be flexible. We often rely too much on ellipticals tredmills and anything that is a product created by corporations to gain the focus of people in the workout community.
I have loved the gym for some time now-- the atmosphere and all the equipment needed for easy dummy-proof fitness is available. But what happens when the gym is taken away? What happens when the person who is best at buying real food (produce-- the food earth provides for us) is stripped of their funds and they must rely on others who have the money but lack the understanding of the difference between food and a product?
In America everything has a price: fitness, food, and over-all well being. This is against the natural order of life yet Americans solute themselves with their negative nutrition meals and artificialized lives.
At school I was in prime position for a healthy me-- I had the money to buy my own food and the schedule and location to workout. Now that I'm home I see I must be ever more flexible in my life. Life is change and diet and fitness are no different.
If we are to survive and thrive as we choose, we must adapt. Adapt as creatures of earth are meant to.
It's been tough dealing with less energy rich foods filled with simple carbs and sugars, while lacking the opportunities to burn it all off. I don't own a bicycle and I am literally about to step through my sneakers. On the occasions I have to lift at Alex's house, I do it wearing socks because my shoes provide instability as opposed to support.
It's a big change and I need to create and force things if I have any hope of working towards where I want to be physically.
Luckily I do have Alex and Colie, along with others, who support me in my decisions. I also have yoga. My mat may be physically falling apart but every time I step on and breathe, I feel the connection, the drive. I just have to find the way.
As for food, I need to be more stern with my parents about what I actually eat.
I hope your rainy Tuesday evening is going well. Maybe the sky will clear up for the stars tonight.
